On the May long weekend our lovely pal Kayla invited us up for an annual get together at her cottage in Sundridge.
This is north of Haliburton and right on the lake.
It is such a beautiful place.

The drive took a while (5 hours, 2 to get out of TO)

We drove through many times of day and many weather systems!

But once we were there it was all a distant memory.

The weather was perfect on Saturday. I didn't bring my suit but some people were in the water.
I can't say that even if I did bring my suit I am mentally ready to be wearing a bathing suit in public at the moment as I am beyond pasty and my trainer hasn't exactly kicked in yet, but it sure was swimming weather.

Johnny was there.
This is Johnny wishing he had Ryan and Numpty as brothers.
They were brothers for the weekend.
On Saturday morning I drove about 30 minutes north with Alex to a place called Powassan where there were having their annual town wide yard sale.
I get real excited by rural yard sales They don't tend to be picked through like in Toronto AND the people don't think what they have is cool so it goes dirt cheap.
Powassan was the place.
They had tables of things for $1 each, even so low as FREE.
There were countless tables that just had free signs on them.
I got this whole box of beautiful vintage patterns for $5.
I think I only didn't like 3 of them. That is rare.

I love the top one here. I see it everyday in the office and I love it everytime I see it.
It will be my next card.
This lamp was on the FREE table. I love it. I just had to plug it in and it worked.
FREE.
With a bulb and everything.
Even if you just took the bulb and threw out the lamp you would be getting a score of a deal.
Not sure why anyone would do that but you could.
We just hung it yesterday above the couch. It is great for reading.
Did I mention it was FREE?

There was a place in Town called the Treasure Mill and it had some great finds too.
Alex bought these cuties.

It is a book all about Hamilton in the 70's. It has some pretty awesome photos.
The best part is at the end they had a chapter about what Hamilton would be in the year 2000.
It is so far from where we are it is hilarious.
It references the 3 day work week and how people would have all this free time.
No one would actually live in Hamilton they would travel in by Sky Bus, Hovercraft and Commuter Shuttle from places like North Bay and Haliburton.
Things were going to be so easy in 2000.
And Hamilton was going to be THE PLACE. Booming.
Boy if they could see it now.
I also bought a book called 'Between Friends'
It too is from the 70's but this one is a photo reference of the people who live in the cities and towns on the boarder of Canada and the USA.
"hey, we aren't that different after all"

See, we bake pies on BOTH sides of the boarder....

We left on Sunday. It was a sad goodbye.

Thanks for having us Kayla. Can't wait for next year!

I can't frickin wait either!!!
By the way, I'm loving that Numpty's kiss was perfectly captured. Too bad Johnny was too distraught to receive it. Must have been a nice treasure for him to see later.
Lovingly,
Kayla
